Advisory Board

The members of the Advisory Board provide guidance for the strategic direction of UNaccountable’s work, as well as recommendations on the Secretariat`s activities. Members are people of stature and relevant expertise from academia, international or national civil service, civil society or the private sector, who advise in their personal capacity. They do not have responsibility for UNaccountable`s management.

Secretariat

The day-to-day activities are overseen by the Executive Director, who represents UNaccountable in its contacts with other public and private bodies, and directs the Secretariat.

The International Accountability Network

The International Accountability Network consists of separate and independent organizations or initiatives that contribute in a specific area to make the work of the UN System and multilateralism more transparent, accountable and efficient. UNaccountable values work through partnership and building an effective network that increases efficiency and helps keep UNaccountable and its partners lean and effective stewards of their resources. Members of the Network are simply part of a community of practice, and not in no way responsible for each other’s activities or views.

Contributors

Contributors are experts in their field who want to make an active intellectual contribution for a more accountable UN System. Contributions include joint or individual publications. Some contributors may contribute anonymously, but their identities and qualifications are known to the Secretariat and to two Advisory Board members of their choice. Consequently, all contributors are not publicly listed. Contributors’ publications through UNaccountable are consistent with the principles and objectives outlined in its Mission Statement. The Executive Director will also determine when it is constructive, and in the interest of vigorous and inclusive exchange, to publish contributions with different views.

Friends of UNaccountable

This is an informal group of UN Member State representatives who wish to support constructive efforts for greater accountability, coherence and transparency in the United Nations’ work. In keeping with the informal character of this group, participants are not responsible for UNaccountable’s work, and the views they express fall under the Chatham House rule unless they wish otherwise.

Participants are under selection, which aims to include a representative selection of established groupings.
